Pima County, Pima Community College, Solon Corporation and the Northwest YMCA have dedicated a solar panel covered parking system, one of the first to be built without incentives, at the Northwest YMCA.  The system was provided by Solon with no up-front cost and will save money beginning with the first year of operation and more than $1 million over the next 25 years.

An enormous solar thermal power plant called Solana developed by the Spanish energy and technology company Abengoa has been humming along in the Arizona desert sending out power as needed even well after sunset.  Solana is still producing at full power capability which adds a lot of value because customer demand is high even after the sun goes down.
