A research study has found that using more solar power in Arizona could save 15 billion gallons of water annually. Most of the water used in Arizona is for agriculture, but another common usage is for cooling natural gas, coal, and nuclear power plants. Obviously, operating rooftop solar power does not require such water use.  The savings would come from Arizonans increasing their use of rooftop solar power to 20% of the energy supply from the 1% it represents today.

Dubai, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and a key logistics hub for the Middle East, said it would make rooftop solar panels mandatory for all buildings beginning in 2030.  Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 was recently launched which includes the rooftop solar mandate as well as several ambitious renewable energy targets.
